but i’m not ready
for the stars
to burn out

ONE YEAR
one year
to the universe
is but a blip
in its lifetime
but one year
without you
here with me
feels like a lifetime
the stars
scarcely returning
they’re different
not glowing so bright
the darkness
barely letting go
that black hole
still so black
NEW LIGHT
stars arise
from the death
of other stars
once bright
nebulae form
stellar nurseries
what once was there
is born anew
never quite the same
same elements
same processes
not the same you
new light
is coming from
the death
of my old friend
